2. Yeah, I know. I mean, while I was reading the first arc, I was all like "What's the big deal with L?" but after he died, I did stop reading for like a little bit just because even though I knew it was going to happen (even BEFORE I started reading it), it was just such a shock for me that I just couldn't get into the rest of it that day. I have finished book 7 since then, but I haven't made it to book 8 yet.. (I'm SO behind on the DN fandom D:)

3. I liked that movie overall, but holy shit do I hear you on "Seasons of Love". It didn't help that it was played multiple times throughout the movie, which really kinda killed off some of my enjoyment from it.

16 is from a horror/mystery anime called Higurashi no ku Koro ni. 8Db In that paticular scene, one of the characters, Mion is forcing her sister, Shion, to rip out her fingernails. It's one of my favorites ever and I really recommend it.

2. I like L as much as the next L-fan (or maybe a little less?) and really like Mello, Matt and even Near but yet I feel like the story after L died dragged on too much and therefor wasn't as good. Of course, it was already starting to be like that before he died, but after it it just got worse. The first part was nice enough, but nearing the end with Light giving his death note to the other guy and with the woman and all (I suck at names, whatever), it was a nifty idea but it was all just too much.

It's like Lost. It's awesome if it's one or two seasons, but if it starts to feel like they're just draging it for the sake of continuing it, then it's lost it's magic.

17. I don't see how mourning for some fun times with your mom (who sounds like the total awesome by the way) is wrong at all. Don't you dare feel guilty. Having had someone that close that you also got to love fannish things with.. I mean, that's a dream come true. It's not crazy or silly or shallow to be sad over the loss.

I am 5'11", weigh 185 lbs, and wear a size 16/18. I will still be cosplaying Mello at the next con I go to assuming I get my shit together and finish the costume.

DO IT. People who mock cosplayers for doing what they love are the scum of the Internet and their opinions should have no bearing on what you do. If you have fun and return with good memories, you've done more than they ever will.

2. I _love_ Near, but yeah, he's an L clone lol. If you don't see that you're lying to yourself. And quite honestly the series wasn't the same after L died. How could it have been? I for one was a huge fan of the dynamic between Misa, Light and L, and that basically was kicked to the curb once L died. (For obvious reasons, I hope?) Furthermore, Light became much more ruthless after that and the psychological game started all over again, with different players. It really did.

But different doesn't necessarily mean worse. You're kidding yourself if you don't think anything changed after L died, but it's totally subjective whether or not you think the plot got better or worse. I for one hated it while I read, but now that it's been nearly a year it's really grown on me. It's just personal preference really.

And as there wasn't ANY closure after L's death, it's easy to see why some fans might have felt bitter that everything kept going at such a fast pace, and that he was basically forgotten and "replaced". (But again, this is mostly my playing devil's advocate. There really isn't a Death Note character I dislike.)

2. Guh... I stopped reading at around 80 because there were so many words and inner-thoughts, and hidden meanings that caused massive internal hemorrhaging, and I just don't have that great of an attention span. :(
Anyway, both Near and Mello were as awesome as L, it's just that L was introduced first so I'll always like him slightly more than the rest.

16. I thought that was a nail clipper, which it sort of is. My fingernails are tingling now. :(
