Dog. People already eat dog in parts of the world with no after effects. Cats on the other hand...I wouldn't know what I am in for.

Would you rather eat anything you want and be perfectly healthy for 20 years then die, or be forced to eat health food and nothing else all your natural life?

20 years of guaranteed perfect health vs. unknown amount of time with unknown level of health. I know what I'd pick without the bonus of eating whatever I want.

Cat.

They're dumb instinctual predators, whereas dogs are some of the smartest animals in the world (outside like apes and whales+dolphins obviously) and moreover evolved to adapt and empathize with humans over ten thousand years in a way no other animal has.

Eating indicates and inability to empathize bordering on psychopathic. And yeah I'm aware some cultures eat them, but they demonstrate my point tbh.

I think my sarcasm meter might be broken?

eta: I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure eating cats/dogs is not common, to be found in restaurants, cuisine in any cultures.

There are some cultures who do not look down on the lower class and poor for eating cats/dogs but it is sustenance eating and not considered desirable. I don't think I would ever say someone lacks empathy because they want to feed themselves and their family. Even if they killed the family pet to do so.
