Re: Stupid ideas about attractiveness
Well, I would, except oh wait OSHA forbids me from wearing heels and a tight little miniskirt in the lab because I might spill corrosive acid or pathogenic bacteria on myself and die. Fuck you very much.
Plus, yeah, objectively there's a 'beauty standard' of people we can objectively find beautiful, but I see plenty of 'ugly' and 'fat' people in long, happy marriages with healthy loving families and good careers, and I see plenty of 'beautiful' and 'thin' people go through strings of failed relationships and careers, so really beauty doesn't mean much.
I mean, if judging people based on their appearance gets you off because you're insecure and you have nothing better to do then more power to you, but don't expect this post is just going to automatically change everyone's minds about beauty standards. The whole thing about beauty standards is that they're unrealistic and unimportant in the long run, and campaigns like 'post your body, it is beautiful' is not a thing where objectifying your body is the message. The message of it is that there are other people out there that look like you and that you are normal, not a hideous monster, and don't be so hard on yourself because it's not important anyway.
Edit: Reading through more of that blog I just have to say: that poor sick soul. Jesus Christ, whatever happened to him to make him hate women so much?
