So, as someone who writes rare pairs and femslash in boyslash-dominated fandoms, you know how you encourage people to write those other characters?

By reviewing their damn fic, or leaving a kudo, or doing a rec list, or something that actually encourages the people who want to write about those characters! They're already in the shadow of some huge slash pairing. They would like to be noticed sometimes.

The more that people bitch about how "no one writes about these characters" the more that the people who do write about the characters, and get so much less attention, feel invisible. Like, okay, here I am writing, are you saying that I don't exist? Because plenty of people write about Lydia and Scott—there's piles of Scott/Isaac floating around—not to mention all the shouting about Stiles/Danny going on right now. So are you saying those people don't count, or that they'll only count if they produce as much fic as the piles of Sterek? I'm not sure that's fair to the people who ARE currently writing about Lydia, Scott and Danny.

Seriously, if more of the people who got mad at the slashers actually read, reviewed, rec'd the fic that they say they want, more people would probably write it.

(Note that I didn't even say "write it yourself" though of course you could do that, too.)

I wholeheartely agree with this. Like seriously people, complaining about something doesn't do anything. The only why something becomes popular is because one person happens to arouse a bunch of people's interest and they make up a huge group of followers in the end. It's like KakaIru from Naruto...Most random pairing ever but it became so big because a bunch of people started writing and making stuff and it got big. Complainers man..

^ THIS.

I lurk in this fandom and I know for a fact that the "not even SOME people" line is completely untrue. I have seen fics about Scott, Lydia and Danny. But do I see people commenting on these fics or passing them around on tumblr like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread? Nope. For a fandom that claims to be so multishippy, it doesn't really follow through...
