I actually wouldn't mind Sam being bald. His hair right now is kind of...atrocious.

It's kind of sad how much I miss his S1 hair. ;_;

Kind of atrocious?!

OP - rock on! This is a hilarious, yet somewhat depressing image, and ultimately the happiest ending I can think of for them.

For some reason, people in the fandom seem to really dig it. ._.

And yet week after week, people, including actual law enforcement officials, believe he's an FBI agent. Apparently, male special agents are now allowed to have long flowing locks with carefully styled flippies.

It's not even funny anymore, it's just stupid.

It's not common knowledge that the FBI has hair length requirements, nor is it common for US municipal police to come into contact with the FBI, so having a guy flash a badge at you and be confirmed by the number on his card as an agent is likely to stop anyone really thinking about it. You're probably in the 1% of the American population that knows anything more about the FBI than what they've seen on TV shows.

....I'm pretty sure it is common knowledge (at least in the US) that most law-enforcement agencies don't allow a man to have flowing waves of perfectly styled Aniston-circa-Friends length hair.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-27 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly wouldn't think much of it so

(Anonymous) 2012-09-27 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, first of all, each state makes its own rules, so, no, it's not common knowledge what the majority of states allow. Secondly, as I mentioned above, the FBI aren't people the average municipal policeman deals with on a regular basis. People tend to steer clear of the FBI and would certainly believe someone with a badge and a phone number with a man on the other side telling them that Officer So-and-so works for him because they don't run into the FBI often enough to be anything but intimidated by them.

Also, it's like seeing noticeably large tattoos on a bailiff or high ranking military officer. Your first thought might be "that looks unprofessional" but the uniform, time and place, and credentials will override any misgivings you have about the tattoos. Besides, rules might have changed. It's not like you're up-to-date on this information.

I'm not saying that nitpicking is bad, just that long hair is not likely to completely throw an official in the places Sam and Dean end up in.
