I don't understand secrets like these. I'm sure there are some writers out there that write the popular pairing because it is the popular one. But as a writer, generally, I write what I like to write and read about. I know there are people out there who don't get the Derek/Stiles pairing, who don't think they have chemistry, and that's fine, but there are a lot of people that do. Also, yes, the fandom is very much Derek/Stiles skewed, but it's not a hundred percent. There are gen stories and other pairings out there being written about (Isaac/Scott, Danny/Jackson, Allison/Lydia, etc.) - yes, porportionally, there aren't as many, but there are still hundreds of stories not about Derek/Stiles (as of now there are 5337 Works found in Teen Wolf (TV) on and 3509 Works found in Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski on AO3).
