I'm not familiar with this work but I fond it disturbing when people equate incest with love. I was victimized by my brother for years and it took me a very long time to understand that incest is about power/control and not love. It has some very confused messages because we often equate sex with love.

Perhaps this story portrays the two involved as being a couple. That is the exception, by and large, and not the rule but okay. The fiction can have what it wants. Reality is quite a different matter in my experience and in my studies on the subject. I can't really see incest as "transcending" anything.

Sorry, OP.

Koi Kaze is...really messed up, IMHO. She's fifteen for one and he's late twenties. She goes to stay with him and his father...and he ends up wanting to be with her. The part where they first have sex and he blurts out the thing about getting condoms makes my skin crawl.

Oh. Wow. >__< Not sure how to add that to my thought process.

I looked this up on Google and I get the angst level of making two people fall in love who are biologically related but don't know it. I can't see it as a positive thing though, any more than I could see the value of incest as a plot device in VC Andrews' work or Anne Rice's. I think it gives a victim of incest more confusion and pain in the long run. My opinion only and I will avoid this as I do the other things I mentioned.

In general, rape, sexual assault, molestation, etc. can't be equated with love. It's true that incest between siblings who were raised together is usually molestation, and I'm sorry that it happened to you, but the case in Koi Kaze is of siblings who fell in love after being raised apart, so I don't think it's comparable.

Thank you. I'm not nearly as messed up as I was over it, thanks to a lot of things, but I remember how some stories confused me during my recovery.

I would agree that it's not comparable but it still hits me in the squick-spot. I can't see love overcoming the biological or social issues around this relationship personally and I likely won't read it to find out how the author chooses to handle it.

As I said before: Sorry, OP.

You know, that's a great point. A really great point. I wish I could go into it more, but I'd misspeak and then your good point would be lost in a sea of wank.

But you're spot on- what endears me (and LOTS of fans) to a couple is the love and the characters, not "cause they go to the same school" or "cause they both like Crest brand tooth paste".

(Also, general note, I'm not getting down on anyone's feelings towards the series. Love or hate it, you (whoever happens to read this sentence) have reasons for your emotional reaction, and nobody except the person who lived through your life exactly as you did has any right to argue about how you react emotionally to that.)

((P.S: Not for nothin', but I'd never heard of Koi Kaze before this post, and Googled to see what was up, and maybe I just clicked a super sad part (Episode 12, Part 1) but something about the piano music and that big, quiet guy broke my heart ;n;))

As someone who actively seeks out incest stories because the taboo of it hits my kink buttons, I'll say that Koi Kaze is unlike pretty much every anime incest story I've ever seen. It's really upsetting/tragic and not played for laughs or the taboo/kink. I'm not sure it's entirely realistic, but it's definitely a lot more seriously handled than your average anime. I really enjoyed it in terms of narrative, though it wasn't sexy (or meant to be) at all. It's disturbing in a really sad way. Thought provoking, too. (But definitely not what I was looking for.)

So it's genetic sexual attraction? OK. I don't really get why people lose their shit about GSA, because the people involved are not actually psychologically related and as long as they aren't involved with other people that they're fucking over and are willing to not have babies together, I just don't even understand how that is anything like what most people who are affected by incest suffer or experience, or why anybody else should have a shit to give about it. (I'm adopted and I don't know who my genetic family are; I've always wondered how I would feel if I fell for someone and later found out that we were related, though since I've moved thousands of miles away from where I grew up it's pretty unlikely to happen, thank G-d.)

But I still think the fact that he's a lot older than her is problematic.
