I knew right away that she meant because she was infertile.

I like your theory a lot better though. I mean seriously, Moffatt, there's a little thing called adoption, ya know. Rory and Amy are a young, heterosexual, white, middle class, healthy couple. I hardly think they'd have a hard time getting approved for adoption candidacy.

Although considering how hard Moffatt has been shoving the ~specialness~ of biological motherhood down our throats he probably thinks that adoption wouldn't be the same.

They would have a MASSIVELY hard time. People say this kind of thing blithely, like being approved for adoption is just "tick a few boxes, get a CRB check". It's months of visits, panels, in depth interviews ("tell us a bit about your history"....!). Unless Amy and Rory lie through their teeth, they will be put down as having dangerous delusions. And if they lie through their teeth, they'll be put down as unstable (missing from one's job for months?"

C'mon.

Also, the real need and drive for adoptive couples in the UK is for NON-white and dual heritage parents, as there is an imbalance in those groups of children seeking new families.
