I also think you may want to take a break from your computer once in awhile because this level of anger can't be healthy.

Then stop going to fansites for awhile and focus on your programming. Because it doesn't sound like you're getting a lot of joy from what is supposed to be a fun hobby.

It is actually a fun hobby. I like to write fics, I like to read other people's fics. There's just a few things that really piss me off- like whining about how the mean old slashers don't write female characters. But I do see that wasn't the OP's intention.

Maybe I should just go back to programming. Maybe I'm just too angry.

*sigh* As another programmer, I know that rage all too well.

But I definitely take a break from fandom when my blood pressure starts to build. I go look at funny sites when I need a break from the coding. Or pretty pictures.

Note how the raging slasher gets sympathy. A raging "I am fed up with slash fangirls" gets "homophobe, DIAF".

Nope. I have encountered both types in different threads and usually what i see more is people going all "teh menz" and "more strong female characters" than "poor slasher". You need a reality check.

It depends on where you're looking. In most of the fandoms I've been in, slash ships have been the main ones - to the point where in some cases I felt unwelcome. But I'm in a smaller fandom where there's very little slash. There's way too many fandoms out there for there to be a definite consensus.
