Yeah that would have actually made sense and been interesting to develop, but it would require actually paying attention to Amy's character's wants and needs, especially as it related to River and her experience in that matter.

This. Moff has made it perfectly clear he has no interest in detailing the emotional impact of all the crap he's put Amy through. The three episodes following LKH had themes (child/parent relations, timey-wimey screwing up Amy's life, Amy needing to lose faith in the Doctor) that were just perfect for exploring how she was handling losing River but we got absolutely nothing. It blows my mind how little importance Moff gives to his character's feelings.

Exactly! Heaven forbid Moffatt should actually focus on the mental aspect of a person going through what Amy did, rather than just the physical part. It pissed me off no end how quickly everything moved with the Melody plotline. I mean, in half the episodes after Melody was taken it was never mentioned by any of the main characters. Amy showed hardly any trauma over being kidnapped, forced to give birth, and then having her baby stolen from her.

Some people might say that that would make it too dark of a show, considering it's supposed to be a kids (or family) show, but then Moffatt shouldn't have introduced that stupid plotline to begin with if he didn't want to have to follow it up with showing the mental and emotional effects of it on Amy.
