Yes, but quite deliberately so. Like, cans of beer on the table deliberate.

It's not like pre-Norman kings really identified actual magic-users and eliminated them, anyway. Or like basically any of the plots would work in something resembling an actual pre-Norman period.

Yeah, this. The show's supposedly set in a fantasy world roughly analogous to the 11th-15th centuries ( like pretty much all classic Arthurian lit) people's obsession with anachronisms make me roll my eyes a LOT.
