I...think that's the case with a lot of people, actually. I don't know whether it's sad (in the sense that folks get their info from two comedians rather than from actual news) or good (in the sense that folks are informed who otherwise wouldn't be). It's probably a combination of the two.

Huh, what a coincidence, just yesterday I was talking to a friend about TNG and how Guinan was my favorite character, only to learn that he hated her (and Whoopi Goldberg's work in general). Hating Guinan... it just doesn't compute.

I'm pretty sure your "secret" is shared by almost everyone whose favorite character is the fandom darling. Nothing wrong with that, but seriously--we know you love it when your characters are loved, and that you don't care much about the unloved characters. It's really obvious.

I allow anon comments. It's even in my whatever-profiles: "allows all comments, even anon." I never get anon comments anyway, even on really popular works.

I guess people are so used to not being allowed to comment anon that they don't even try?

I think it's a fairly aggravating thing people do in all sorts of fandoms. "You liked the movie? It was shit! Read the book for a REAL experience." Yeah, but well, I'm not interested in reading the book. I'm just not. Leave me alone.


Also, it's been many years since I last read DNAngel and saw the anime, but I'm pretty sure I remember liking the anime more for some reason or other. (Or maybe I just didn't think the manga was all amazing like others do.)

I agree. I, too, OP, am a hipster who is above English-language pop and desperately holding onto my denial. I mean, I know it's okay to like catchy foreign songs because they're foreign, the hipster gods said so. But I don't know if it still counts if I hear the English versions and are forced to face the devastating fact that all pop everywhere is basically the same vapid tripe and I've been liking it all along, though. I'm desperate for answers, here!

If they go back to listening to it in the other language that's okay though right? Foreign loophole in the taste clause? I can still be cool?

Or they're familiar with sites that don't allow the /. Or they want an easier search term (seriously, / in google is not a fun experience. "X" must be much easier to find.) Or they're not into getting that top/bottom feeling that the beloved forward slash invokes.

I don't use X because I've never seen it really done, but I'm starting to think people who do are better at fandom and the internet than I am. :/

Tracking people down is great fun, and makes you feel like a smarty-pants detective (I've done it for work-related reasons, and yeah, it's awesome mad-science-y). But yeah, it's a slippery slope and you gotta remember that people are entitled to privacy.

I get it. They sound different (at least in quite a few of the accents in my area) and that makes the mistake seem silly. Plus, it's really hard to have a typo that gives you the wrong one, so it seems like the lack of knowledge is obvious. And they're easy words.

/I guess I have more feelings about this than I thought

The thing is...is that they make the most canonically straight character (Kenny) gay while mostly ignoring the extremely obviously gay or at least bi character (Cartman). The Butters/Kenny ship actually confuses me. I don't think they've even interacted with each other all that much.

I feel guilty, but I really enjoyed the episode where Cartman pretended to be gay while pretending Kyle was his boyfriend
