Yeah, this just recently happened to me with a couple of fandoms. I don't particularly like the feeling, but it's really disappointing and frustrating at the same time. Especially since it tends to trigger my social anxiety on the worst of days.

I guess that's why I've loved certain characters for as long as I have (like Beta Ray Bill from comic!Thor, Cad Bane from 'Clone Wars', or Samara from 'Mass Effect 2'), because they're not the fandom darlings -though they have small, but devoted followings- and thus there isn't that burnout that comes with it after a while.
