I don't know, there's been plenty of times when I've gotten into a fandom, and seen everyone saying "This version is the best" or "this series is the best" and being really enthusiastic about it and maybe dismissive about other parts of the fandom, and that generally does inspire me to check out the shit that they're hype about.

Like, if I were into the dnangel anime the comments depicted would make me much more likely to read the manga

yeah, really? I hope so...I mean, I do really like the manga and want people to read it obviously considering my dumb, also-pushy message at the end there. I'm sure it's well-meaning and I really like the people that made that post, I just get worried that it'll seem like they're saying "Well, you're WRONG for liking that version, you should like THIS version!"
