Wait... so what does it mean if I just write NameName? No / or x? I didn't realize that how you write a name 'coupling' had anything to do with anything...

I wouldn't be entirely sure if NameName was a romantic or platonic relationship (whereas Name/Name or NamexName I read as romantic, and Name&Name, Name+Name or Name-Name I read as platonic). That could just be because I hang out in different areas of fandom from you, though.

See when I post stuff, if it's NameName it's a ship, whereas if it's friendship I'd specify it as 'NameName friendship', and if it's just multiple characters in a fic with no shipping, it'd be 'Name, Name, Name, and Name' etc. Or with shipping and extra characters, "NameName, Name."

I have just realized that all of this is very confusing. XD It seems like everyone does it differently depending on not just the fandom, but the type of fandom, though I write most OrigFic now, and my 'NameName' carried over.
