*shrugs* Write it anyway. I've shipped plenty of unpopular pairings and characters; nothing bad ever happened to me other than that I got fewer readers for those stories (which I was expecting to happen, so it didn't really bug me). And the readers who also ship your rare and unloved pairing will be super appreciative, which imo makes up for the smaller audience.

This!! Write it anyway. Some people will read it and adore it. Writing for a tiny pairing can be really gratifying because the people who will read it really love it. I have such a soft spot for tiny pairings; that's where I get the best feedback.
