um

dan harmon is autistic

i get that he was an asshole for reasons unrelated to his autism status but when you point out " perfectionist with major self-esteem issues who lacks interpersonal skills and is hideously awkward" you're pretty much making autism seem like a bad thing.

that said his sexist bullshit and use of slurs on his twitter meant i wasn't sad to see him go.

As far as I recall he self-diagnosed himself with Asperger's, which I might venture to suggest is not the most meaningful medical diagnosis in the history of the world?

I don't mean to be offensive or dense but um..." perfectionist with major self-esteem issues who lacks interpersonal skills and is hideously awkward" is considered a bad thing. Which is why people with autism work hard to learn about people skills and how to deal with these traits.

Saying characteristics of a disorder are negative is not the same as saying the disorder itself is negative.

Uh, no, there isn't anything inherently bad about those things. They're only bad when the person or others around them are being harmed. I am autistic. I make sure to try to learn certain things that others know inherently but I don't to avoid *hurting* people. But fuck if I'm going to change anything about my benign awkwardness because it makes some people uneasy.

Well, given that he was reportedly constantly going over budget and running late on things and pissing off execs because of those things ... uh, yeah, people WERE being hurt (in a professional capacity, anyway).

Yes, there's nothing inherently bad about those traits. But they arguably made DH very bad at certain parts of his job. Bad enough that the higher ups decided his bad qualities outweighed his good qualities in the position.
