I need more explanation here. 50 Shades ain't exactly dense literature. Why would people titling their fic after it not know what they're writing about?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-29 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Because 50 Shades of Gray is a book about sexual dynamics and certain kinks, written entirely by someone who has no idea what the actual hell they're talking about.

Yeah, but as long as they know what the BOOK is about...

(Anonymous) 2012-09-29 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think OP is comparing the authors here. One is clueless, the other is...?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-29 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...equally clueless about her subject matter if she's titling her book along the lines of "50 Shades...", written by a woman who has no clue about BDSM or how it works, or the mechanics of the physcological aspects of the people involved.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-29 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that's exactly what OP is getting at. :)

Is a kink "wrong" if it doesn't correspond to how something that already exists works?
