Dude, it's not an either-or thing of polar opposites of terribleness. Seeing hompophobic fans who would shit their pants if one of the characters turned out to be canonically gay doesn't mean the only appropriate reaction is to leap to the other far end of the scale and sympathize with the fans who are incapable of understanding the very point of South Park and all the things it makes fun of by making the characters into gooey-eyed anime teenagers in skinny jeans buttfucking each other.

What baffles me most about the immense tonal shift of the cutesy uguu fanart and fanfiction is that it throws out so much of what is integral to South Park that I can't even imagine these people actually even like the show if nothing that is actually present in it is interesting to them and they need to change that much of it to make it so that it is. It's like literally all they want to keep from it is the fact that it's about a bunch of boys, and even then they usually age them up.
