Back when I posted my fanfiction on FFN (woe) the common practice always seemed to be blah/blah when there was nothing explicitly sexual, and blahxblah when there was something explicitly sexual in the fic.

I assumed this still applied. Obviously not.

Yeah, I've seen this on FFN as well. Still going in my fandom. Always sets me up for disappointment tbh, I get excited that someone's posted a particular pairing only to discover that's not what they meant at all.

This is what I remember when starting out in fandom. Over time, I noticed people stopped doing that and / was just the standard for any pariing. (I also remember the dominant partner being placed first, but that pretty much faded too)

Whenever I see someone use x I get the impression of them being old school or something.
