Problem, though. Finding Nemo came out before Ratatouille.

I liked Ratatouille more than their more recent offerings. I think that more people get hate for not liking Up which was a "masterpiece". Let's face it, folks. No one talks about the movie beyond the first five or so minutes.

Yeah, I'm personally in that camp of people who did not like Up... and I felt that if they'd just taken that beginning as they grew old together and then maybe cut to him in the balloon house alone and smiling it would have been a great short film. But instead we got a big film when there was no need for it. Or at least that was how I felt. I don't care about the bird or Russell- both annoyed me a lot. Muntz eh... well I was getting burned out on evil grandfatherly types (and Muntz felt like a Waternoose* without any of the emotional impact of being betrayed/finding out he was bad) and even Dug (when I LOVE dogs), was bugging me. Carl and Ellie were the only characters I liked in that film by the end. Eh.

*I know he wasn't the FIRST of that type in Pixar but I still maintain he was the best and both movies had the same director so I couldn't help but compare them.

Of course no-one will burn you for hating on Cars 2 or even Cars in some cases.

In the end it's fine OP, I mean I really liked Finding Nemo but it's cool if you don't. Don't let the rabids get you down.

+1 I feel like if they had just taken the first montage and done that with it it could have been the best short film Pixar had ever done.

Not that I don't find Up enjoyable, because I actually quite like a bit of it, but there are a lot of bits that weigh it down and keep it from its potential.

I totally agree about Up. The fact that Muntz should have probably been dead bothered me too much to enjoy the film, along with all the nonsense with the bird.

That stupid bird. When Russell went off at Carl for not helping I wanted to smack him. >:(

Okay that's what confused me when reading this. XD I was like, "But.... Finding Nemo was way before Ratatouille?"

I love Up, but I love it because it's funny, and could happily fast forward through the ~montage~ at the beginning.

I...don't think OP thinks Finding Nemo came out after Ratatouille? The s!b seems to suggest that, since OP gets shit for liking Finding Nemo, s/he just imagines s/he'd get even worse shit for revealing this particular secret.

OP 2

This is what I meant.

"Finding Nemo came out before Ratatouille."

This. IDK if the OP has the ordering wrong or just worded it really awkwardly.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-30 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think the OP worded it awkwardly at all. I think you people just have really poor reading comprehension.

I try not to assume random anons are the OP, but way to be defensive man. :/

Up was ok....but seriously. The first 5-10 minutes REALLY should have just been one of their shorts. The rest was unnecessary.

And I AM a Pixar fan. *shrug*

but yeah. Up was too hyped and left me kind of cold after the beginning.

See, I'm the reverse, I was sort of all, "Okay, cute, but whatever..." during the opening montage, but I liked the humour and cuteness in the rest of the movie.
