YES. All of this.

Now if you really want to blow their minds, show them someone an Amer-Asian from the South. To some this is like showing them a leprechaun wrapped in a unicorn coat. They can't believe they're real.

I have to admit to this day when I hear about people of Asian descent raised in, say, small-town Alabama, or Jamaica, or Scotland (like that Starburst commercial), with all the associated languages and cultures, I have to force-reset the incredulous mindset the media has locked into my head.

totally a csb, but here in big-city Alabama I was at a hibatchi place the other day, and a nice and very blond lady came in with her teenage asian daughter--I guess she could have been mixed, but she looked fully ethnic asian. Anyway, that kid had the thickest Southern drawl I had heard in a long time, just like her momma, whether adopted or otherwise. It was so cute. XD
