Not true. People who claim to be "politically correct" are some of the most vicious anti-Semites I've ever met, and it has nothing to do with Israel.

When someone throws a tantrum over the word "bitch" but thinks it's OK to make jokes about your family dying in the Holocaust (and gets offended when you say that you don't find it funny at all), that's kind of fucked up.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa - some asshole said that to you? That's more than fucked up.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-01 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah anyone who actually said that is fucking terrible

and not actually politically correct, even if they claim to be.

'Social Justice' and how it's used on the internet, has nothing to do with it's original meaning.

I'm black, but since I don't fit into their neat little box of how black folks ought to act, I get called 'white' like it's some kind of insult.

It's utter insanity, and it's getting very scary right now.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, really. I'm not black, but I am Asian, and I've been called white for saying that MY OWN HOME COUNTRY has some serious problems with corruption and stifling of free speech.

Uh.

Thinking my country needs to stop imprisoning people for complaining about the government on the Internet makes me white? Is not liking corruption a white people thing now? Even if it is a white people thing, why would that be bad? For that matter, what's wrong with white people in general, and why is it such a bad thing to be white?

The really baffling part was when some SJW called me a banana. I didn't even know what the fuck that was supposed to mean until I looked it up on UrbanDictionary. Bananas are yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Like me, apparently. As far as I'm concerned, that renders anything those SJWs have to say on racism completely null and void.

I mean, as a white guy, I guess having sane and rational thoughts associated with me and mine (even if they don't realize that's what those thoughts are) isn't so bad? But... I'm not sure I want them to be exclusive either. There's enough sanity and rationality to go around. Especially since so many opt for insane and ludicrous instead.

But yeah. Anybody who uses "you sound white" as an insult, or worse, a way to win an argument (Skin color means your thoughts matter less hmm, what does this sound like class), is pretty much immediately filed into my "no more point arguing" box. That's when I get to trolling or just noping my way right out of the conversation cause there's gonna be no reasoning with that.

People feel opressed by life, and when they finally get themselves a safe place, what do they do? Set up a "us only" club and harass everybody who they want to get even with. That's the key word. Social Justice warriors don't want justice. They want to make them pay. Them being whoever isn't "us" usually.

I originally joined the SJ movement thinking it would be open-minded and accepting. Then they found out my heritage (I'm mixed-race).

They told me that race-mixing is evil, and said the nastiest things about mixed families. They said that any interracial families is cultural appropriation (a concept I think is total BS now) and fetishistic. They say they are race-traitors and white-washers. The two comments that stuck with me the most were "you are a product of colonization" and "you're mixed, you're existance is self-hatred by nature". They made me feel like an abomination for being mixed.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
There is no unified SJ movement.

The people who told you those things were pretty much the opposite of what most people who actually advocate against racism/sexism/homophobia/ect are.

The problem is that the assholes you met and actual good people working against isms of all sorts are both called SJ Warriors by other people and these groups are also both dismissed - because the asshole minority puts people off and because actual bigots don't want to confront their bigotry.

I think there is a pretty clear distinction between a social justice advocate/ally and an SJW.

Most SJAs don't really ping people's radars because they're busy being decent human beings.

The SJWs are the ones who draw attention to themselves by being assholes while using SJ was an excuse.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is that the SJA's are going to have their reputation damaged, by the SJW's.

If your social justice group has similar goals as supremest groups... they are doing it wrong. Really, really wrong.

Out of morbid curiosity, did they say anything about mixed couples that didn't involve Caucasians? Or is only the one kinda mixing even considered?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Some SJWs** seem to have a very supremacist mindset when dealing with races. It like they want to keep all races separate and all (non-white) cultures pure and untouched and, in essence, are advocating segregation.

Which makes me wonder if they aren't really white supremacist trolling the SJ crowd.

**As in people who use SJ as an excuse to be bullies.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't really mention mixed-people with no European blood in there. It's one those topics that just aren't spoken of, like racism between different POC-groups (Japanese racism against Chinese, for example). The once or twice I did see it brought it up, it was blamed by the Europeans because of colonization and every country prior to contact with Europe was a perfect utopia, essentially.

That is sick that anyone would even think that, let alone say it to you. If a white person said that, they would have been run off the internet. But since they are non-white, they have rationalized themselves a (dare I say) privilege to be hateful to others.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-02 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

What the fuck?! That's disgusting, and I'm sorry they said that to you.

I wonder if they realize that they use the same arguments as white supremacists, and if they realize the irony in that.
