Or, y'know, some people just like incest ships. I ship incest in a lot of fandoms and Supernatural was the ideal show for me.

This. Supernatural had a pair of brothers with an unconventional and pretty fucked-up childhood; they were each other's most important person because everyone else they loved either abandoned them or died (this got gross in later seasons, with the repeated killing off and erasure of female characters, but in the earlier seasons it was a more reasonable source of angst); and they had plenty of conflict with each other but still clung to each other with such ferocity. All of which I ate up with a spoon. The bloom faded from the rose for me later, and I'm only peripherally in the fandom now, but the dynamic between Dean and Sam in the first few seasons of Supernatural was pretty much the greatest thing ever, in my opinion.
