If you can afford regular bouillon cubes and don't hate them just as much, you can cook the ramen with half of one of those. Ditto packets of onion soup mix - use about a quarter of a packet per brick of ramen. You can also use canned broth, but that's more expensive.

Throwing in a few vegetables makes it taste better, with or without the packet, but that might be hard to do in a lunchbox.
