This is one of those shows where I love the fandom enthusiasm for this stuff. When it's great, it's great; and when it's dumb, it's hilariously dumb. And Stiles...Stiles is one of those characters whom I love so much that I just want him to be with whoever his heart desires. So, I kind of get where you're coming from in this, OP.

Yeah, that seems to happen to me lately. Because I think lately there's a lot of well written female characters...yet everyone still ignores them. :D

I actually don't like Stydia, because I think it would be a completely unhealthy relationship (Though I think I would love to read a story that's set few years in future, where Stiles is a bit more sure about himself and Lydia is more confident about her own identity.)

But I mostly think Jackson and Lydia deserve each other haha.

yeah, that's my issue with the pairing as well. i think they could be great friends, but they'd be bad together romantically. i'm hoping s3 is the year stiles grows up and realizes she's not the person he made her up to be in his head and lets go of the romance.

Yeah. agreeed. Stydia one of my least favorite relationship tropes, so that is part of the reason I'm not shipping it personally.

And I really like Lydia/Jackson together.

I ship everything in Teen Wolf (no seriously, everything), but I have a hard time shipping Stiles/Lydia in the canon-era, just due to the social power imbalances.

OTOH, I can totally see Stiles as the type of person who would be unpopular and considered kind of a weirdo in high school, but incredibly popular in college, so I kind of love the idea of Stiles and Lydia ending up going to the same college and then Stiles becoming popular, figuring himself out a bit, and then Lydia thinking popular!self-assured!Stiles is exactly her type. IDK, I can just totally see them getting together sometime in their first semester of college and then ending up one of those couples who no one can remember ever not being together and who everyone just thinks of as a single unit for the rest of their college experience.

So you ship something that is both *incredibly* unhealthy for both characters involved, and not in a 'oh its so bad its good' sort of way?

It turns Stiles into a 'good guy', and Lydia is emotionally abusive, COMPLETELY wrong for him.

I ship Stiles with happiness, and Lydia would not make him happy. And he certainly wouldn't make her happy.

Lydia's emotionally abusive, how? Stiles is the one that screamed at her about his manpain while she was grieving for her boyfriend who'd "died" like less than two hours before that and has called her a nutjob, 60 percent evil, cold, etc. And this is about the girl he's liked since what, second grade?

I think they're wrong for each other because Stiles is written as such a Nice Guy around her. Just ask her out if you like her, GOD. Scott has told you this twice now.

I wouldn't call her emotionally abusive, and I won't discount the screaming (but that comes from less of a nice guy place in my mind, and more of a 'stiles was at the end of his rope' place),

But I would say that Lydia is incredibly self-centered. She is either an idiot, or she leads Stiles on. The date, the birthday stuff, the dance, etc. I don't understand why she doesn't tell him that she isn't interested in him like that--unless she's using him. Because, in my mind, she's *that* sort of girl.

And considering that she has a boyfriend, I really hate how people keep telling Stiles to ask her out. He needs to be told to let her the fuck go. Not encouraged.

You know, I tend to prefer slash, too, but Teen Wolf is one of the rare fandoms where I ship pretty much everybody/everybody, as well as loving all the gen/pack fic. :D

Although, I have to admit, Stydia is somewhat lower on the like spectrum for me, because it makes Stiles seem like one of those Nice Guys, and kind of squicks me because of that dynamic, but I've read a couple of (admittedly uncommon, yet awesome) fics focusing on his and Lydia's friendship.

I really like Lydia, though I wish they would do more with her. And one of the things I love about this show is you can basically ship anyone with anyone.

Though if these two did get together it would be insane in the smarts department, like really, they could take down anything. I ship them more as friends though. Part of it is that I think if they actually dated Stiles wouldn't be attentive to Lydia's every whim and it would end with a lot of tnesion between the two of them

I don't know this fandom but I get a bit frustrated when people say het fans are faking being oppressed.

Why wouldn't I want to read about/see art of stuff I enjoy? Even all my canon pairings are devoid of fic or art or anything. I can only do stuff for it myself for so long before I get frustrated and sad about it. The even funnier thing is the one CANON Femslash pairing I like as a couple is overlooked because people prefer to ship one of them with other people instead. Go figure.

The thing about "Media caters to you." I'm sorry I didn't know I was supposed to accept /any/ het pairing as my own and not come to love specific ones because I enjoy their dynamics.

Because of this fandom is pretty devoid of fun for me and I rarely stay around many for long. I guess I just like to read fandom secrets to pretend I'm in one.

I love Stydia. They have some awesome moments, but I don't think they're there yet.

I mean I love the Stiles recognizes that she's 60 percent evil and likes her anyway. I love that she kind of puts on this hard front but likes when Stiles can see underneath it. I love that he wants to listen to her problems when everyone else ignores her. Plus Stiles was wicked impressed by her molotov cocktails and made sure to remember what she did so he could use it later. No matter what happens they definitely need to team up as badass science buddies.

I think Stiles needs to move on before it can happen. While sometimes he's genuinely nice to her, he's got it in his head that if he just waits around long enough she'll eventually see him in that light. And it just ain't happening. You've got to move on and learn to be her friend, and if she sees you as more she'll let you know man.

I love Stiles and Lydia as BFFs and human pack rolling their eyes at the antics of the wolves and being super awesome, but I don't ship them together. After the end of season 2 I came out shipping Lydia/Jackson really hard, but I actually have a surprising number of het ships for this fandom when I'm usually a slasher.

But, I get where you're coming from on the Stiles and Lydia are both awesome and badass and it's fun to ship awesome and badass people together. I'm hoping as this show and fandom continue it will be less OTP for Sterek and more pairings will become popular as well. (Danny/Isaac ftw!)

Agreed. I don't think I honestly ship Sterek, but I really only want to see Lydia and Stiles as BFFs...and I also only ship Lydia with Jackson.

Basically, if you don't ship Sterek you're going to feel kind of lonely in this fandom. (Which I don't. Stiles reads as so immature it sets of my crossgen squick.)
I think I prefer Stiles and Lydia as friends, but she definitely needs more fandom love.
