Expect it doesn't. They made sure to say it was a alternative timeline just so people like you wouldn't freak out about Next Gen and such being gone. And even if it WAS you'd still get novels from the shows coming out. So it's not like it would even be gone gone.

A lot of people don't take those novels as canon... and they aren't wrong in as far as we've probably heard the last of the original universe in anything but those novels.

Let's be honest with ourselves we weren't going to see anything form Next Gen, DS9, or Voyager outside of books and games even BEFORE the reboot movie.
