Re: Anyone else looking for a job?
had a few callbacks/interviews but only one person actually replied back to say no I didn't get it. really hurts because two interviews were dream jobs. more frustrating than disheartening.
but a CNA? licensed and everything? ngl, try a different geographical location. they are always PCA jobs up for grabs here in Houston.
Re: Anyone else looking for a job?
(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 04:19 am (UTC)(link)I am licensed but the job I'm working now is technically not a CNA job though it's the same type of work. So I think the lack of experience is a factor with some employers.
Yeah, other people have also advised me to relocate. I've considered it but I'm not sure how to work out the logistics and finances.
Also I love where I live a hell of a lot. But I won't love it anymore if I'm living on the street, so maybe I'd love Houston.
Re: Anyone else looking for a job?
but yeah about the relocating. I would nearly die if I was forced out of Houston, but if pushed far enough I would always choose self preservation. only you can decide that. some places allow relocation assistance, but for a CNA it wouldn't be much. at least it would be tax deductible.
I guess above all, stay current on all your certifications and CEUs. try to see if your library (or community college if you have the cash) has any classes to brush up on. like Excel or a foreign language. maybe coding or med term. the college here has short courses on things like "Spanish for the health industry".
