Ex-boyfriend took me out to a Thai restaurant and ordered an appetizer whose name escapes me, but it was described as "Thai bar food" and eaten with the fingers. And it had slivers of dried hot peppers in it. And I wasn't used to hot food then, so my eyes began to water.
