I've been in "oh, this pairing is SO canon :wink wink:" and "we're all smoking dope but seriously these two would be so great together" fandoms, but I've finally found myself in a fandom where I actually, honestly, seriously, 100% believe that the life path for my ship as intended by the author is for them to get together romantically. The A-plot of the series basically boils down to "get him in my life", the anime climaxes with their reunion, the manga gives their reunion a title-drop, and despite all of the incredibly intense "getting his attention on me is the most important thing in my life" speeches and other typical shounen features, it was the sweet little look with lowered-lashes that the protagonist's object of obsession gifts him with at the end of the anime (and in the equivalent manga chapter) that pushed me over into "whoa, he totally knows he's crushing on the protagonist; wonder when the protagonist's going to notice?" territory. At first I felt super goofy for drinking the kool-aid and becoming One Of Those Fen, but I really can't view the series any other way now.
