I guess I don't understand? I like reading people's meta. I like interesting, convoluted explanations for little teeny bits I never noticed. I like wondering what writers had in mind. I like looking at pairings that for some reason would be "hidden" -- say, gay subtext in a show too old to make it obvious, or gay subtext between the protagonists when that would be "too much."

Unless you're talking about people who are obnoxious in general who insist that their ship is canon and a canon ship is not, I'm... a little confused.

Not OP, but I suspect the OP is talking about pairings that, for whatever reason, are obviously Not Canon [there's another canon sip, Word of God is that it's not canon, etc] but insist that it is and go through the series with a fine toothcomb for anything to ~prove~ it. [For example: They looked at each other for 2 seconds in that episode! It's totally canon!]

Of course, I could be wrong, but that's how I took it.
