For real. I mean seriously, I don't understand how a friend could logically throw a spitfit over finding out you like BDSM. Maybe, maybe if they didn't understand and you went out with bruises and they thought you were being mistreated, but if you explain to them the difference between S&M and Abuse and they understood that you were well read on the subject and in control, what's the problem? Barring a million stupid "yeah but what if" scenarios conjured by trolling minds, it literally has no affect on them, so it's not their business.
