Norsekink basically drove me to fits of hysterical rage the few times I dared venture onto it. That was really embarrassing and I'd rather not dwell on the fact that something so harmless and silly induced such a reaction.

The Neverending Sherlock Holmes Kinkmeme O' Doom that erupted after the 2009 movie was really excellent when it came to prompt-to-fill ratio. Also the smut was frickin' hot. Like, really hot. And actually smutty. No AU supernatural bullshit.

I will never understand how the XMFC kinkmeme(s) got overrun by slutty pregnant Charles, but IDGAF because I'm laughing too hard and the entire thing is a giant gob of sweetness and light.

Avengerkink is a smutty mixed bag of rage inducing idiocy and batshit insane adorable polyamorous cotton candy and gloriously self-indulgent hurt-comfort idfic, and the tropes it has produced (there is an entire genre of fic referred to as "Tony-has-to-sexually-degrade-himself-to-save-the-Avengers-from-the-villain") are frickin' hilarious when viewed from a distance, but I think it's strength is in its gen prompts -- those are quite often very cool and thought-provoking.

This isn't an actual kinkmeme, but there was a How I Met Your Mother darkfic meme that produced an impressive volume of some shockingly good darkfic for a frickin' sitcom.

What's the rage inducing idiocy in avengerkink? I admit I only check the completed fills entry, but the meme seems pretty peaceful at a distance?

Norsekink is completely horrible. I could not believe how much a simple kink meme could piss me off, and I absolutely know what you mean with hysterical rage.

To be fair, I think most of the rage-inducing idiocy in avengerkink is restricted to the Loki-related prompts that migrated over from norsekink, and I've long since developed the ability to glaze over and just not care about them. The only other place where the idiocy is really frustrating is in the contingent of Steve/Tony fans who think Tony should be treated like some hysterical Victorian lady who just needs to be smacked around a little to stop him from mouthing off and have all his actions and choices controlled by Steve in order to squash his eccentricities.

But there isn't a whole lot of wank and fighting as far as I know -- I mainly keep to the completed fills post nowadays.

I used to love Norsekink when it was still taking its baby steps. Thing's are different now. Hoo boy. (I think the breaking point for me was when a non-anon user tried to justify their slut-shaming and were actually proud about being able to yell "whore!" and "slut!" because they didn't single out women; men can be whores, too. Joy.) Nowadays it's just... Thor and Loki, nobody else invited.

Oh god, Norsekink. I hate that so much. It seems like it's responsible for 99% fandom fail in Avengers fandom.
