So many hard to read secrets today.

What do you hate to see design-wise in a secret?

Bright red text over dark backgrounds in jpegs. Eeeewwww. *shudders*

"Fun" fonts that are almost unreadable even if you are using black against white background. And usually people who use those fonts have no clue about readability so 90% of the time they will also use an unreadable colour combination, so their secrets become enigmas for us to decipher.

Oh, absolutely. All my secrets are made in DIN 1451 font, and whenever possible I use the stroke option around them.

People just writing a secret over a screengrab of some TV show or w/e. Just screenshot with text on it. It's simultaneously incredibly lazy and completely unreadable.

Some of us don't have photoshop. I only have Gimp and don't know how to do that much. Most of the time I try to add a black box around the screengrab so I can put the tex there or at least make sure the color and font are ones that is legible over the picture. But I don't think text over a screengrab is automatically bad unless it is unreadable.

I agree that text over screengrab is not automatically bad. Thick, even-lined text like the font used for meme captions should be easily readable even without outlining.

Yes, the key really is to pick a thick, even-lined font and to make sure the color contrasts enough without being an obnoxious, hard to read color like red or green. If that isn't going to work with your screengrab, just pick a different one.

Really long secrets- so long they have to type it in pt. 7 font and you can't read it.

They're sitting there acting as if they are borders when no borders were desired. Why should there be borders in such a place? This is a comm WITHOUT borders, or so I was given to believe. So! THE SIN IS COMPOUNDED. Because first, you have rotten design; and second, the design makes a mockery of the very foundation of Fandom!Secrets.

OUTLINERS. I'M CALLING YOU OUT. OF LINE.

Just stop this shit. Stop this crime against fandom.

It makes me rage when text goes over a character's face. It doesn't necessarily make it unreadable, but it's something I hate design-wise in a secret.
