the story is actually really complex, you would know if you read the comic.

I remember back when Lost was big, there were these fans who thought they were geniuses because they were into it. If you didn't like Lost, or preferred to watch something else, then they would declare that you were a complete moron, and that the only reason you could possibly not be into the Sacred Show was that you were too stupid to understand it. It was brilliant and complex, you see, and therefore went above the heads of most people. But not them, oh no. They got it, and that proved that they were Special and Super Intelligent.

I was reminded of that just now.

i don't care if people don't like homestuck. if it's not your cup of tea then cool, who gives a shit. but attempting to play off the story as objectively "random" when it's clearly not is worth pointing out as incorrect. like i said, the story is complex. people who have read the whole thing understand that. i'm guessing op never made it past the first half of act 1, which doesn't give anybody enough to judge the entire story by.

for the record, the story confuses me and i'm a fan (obviously). i have no idea what's going on right now in certain parts of the plot. so no, i don't really "get" it, or at least all of it, but i can sit back and look at the story and the other elements of hussie's work and concede that it's a complex and very interconnected story. it's evident that hussie DOES care about his work and that - past the pages where he was taking reader input - he's putting a lot of effort and consideration into the storyline.

i'm not calling op stupid. again, if people don't like homestuck then whatever. i hated it for a long time too. but there's a difference between disliking something because of the genre or character stereotypes or even just because you don't like it, and then trying to cast objective judgments on it that are not true.

It's not random, but it IS so convoluted it's ridiculous.

ok but that has nothing to do with the fact that op called it "random" which it isn't and which is my point. i wouldn't disagree that it's convoluted to a degree.
