Are you being serious this is the most stuck-up comment ever. Who cares if they can't distinguish fanon from canon. As long as they're enjoying themselves it's all good.

How was my comment stuck up? If you don't like the source then why would be interested in the fandom, which is, you know, based on the source?? And maybe what they LIKE about fandom stuff is canon?

Most of the fandoms I've seen are made up of a great deal of good stuff that isn't in canon. Fans take source material and expand or even improve on it, especially when the source is too short to elaborate on every concept in one showing, like a movie, or the source has subpar execution with great ideas. So it's entirely possible to love a fandom and dislike or be apathetic towards the canon.

Never said it wasn't possible to love a fandom and dislike the canon. I'm not fond of SPN of late, but I still you know watched the source for six seasons. I just think you can't say "Fanon/fandom is better" if you didn't actually read/watch a good chunk of the source. It sounds like they barely read any of the comic and are just in it for the pretty. Which is fine but if you brag about it people are going to get pissy that your in fandom and hating on something they love.

If that makes sense at all. Sorry, I have trouble getting words from my brain to paper often times.

No, it make sense. To be fair, OP said they personally couldn't get into the canon after multiple tries, not that the fandom was objectively better, it doesn't strike me as bragging, just a confession. Maybe they would like it if they tried harder, but as someone who's slogged through a good chunk of things I hate, hoping in vain that I would like it, sometimes it's not only not worth it, but it can ruin any enjoyment of the pretty you had before. As long as they aren't clogging up the pipes with ignorant fanfiction and barging into fandom discussions with nothing to add but hate, it seems like no harm done, to me.
