Honestly, published authors are just getting paid to do what they love. The rest of us write fanfiction or original fiction as a hobby.
Adults have hobbies. And also responsibility. That's literally the only thing that makes us any different than teenagers when it comes to interests and things we do for fun. My idea of a good time is writing post after post of RP and squeeing over anime, and I live a normal life.
