Re: Fusions!
One of my favorite fusion fics ever was a fusion of Marvel comics and Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" with Steve in place of Gerda, Tony in place of Kay, and a load of other Marvel characters as all the supporting characters in the original fairy tale, plus a bunch of new ones that fit into the various plot twists of the original fairy tale in awesome inventive ways (Bucky as the Little Robber
GirlBoy, natch). And a hilarious little vicious dig at the deconstructionalism and post-modernism of modern comics in the opening anecdote. The fact that so many Marvel characters already have animal-based names to start with really comes in handy for a fairy-tale fusion -- wasps and ants and spiders and falcons and hawks and mockingbirds, oh my!(linking to part 7 where the links to all the parts are listed, because for some reason they don't have all the parts listed on a separate page properly: http://elspethdixon.livejournal.com/181567.html)
