The people that are "Why won't you finish it!! You can't comment on hating it until you finish it!" are the same ones that will go "If you don't like it, then don't read it" when you finish reading the comic and write a rant on hating it... so uhm...

I'm trying to get into it because a few of my friends are and I want to be able to enjoy her fic and the art more, but I'm going through Act I and just finished Act II and just ... it's boring and not funny. I've been reading the pesterchums and not skipping stuff, just I just feel like it's been overhyped so my expectations were too high I guess so that's probably why I can't get into it. Some of the music is good, but not good enough to make me want to continue.

Yeah, I read Act 1 and was like "ok, gave that a shot, didn't catch me" and all my friends were like "oh no, you need to get to Act 3!" and I'm like "if it didn't catch me through all of Act 1, it's not something I'm going to devote time to. I don't give book serieses that chance, I don't give tv shows that chance, and I don't give webcomics that chance. That is not 'teh bestest thing ever,' that's bad storytelling."

i think a lot of people are/were in the same boat. i was too and i had a hard time getting past john and his cake arms fiasco. i hate to be one of those people that says it gets better, but it really does (at least for a lot of people). the first couple of acts pale in comparison to the others. things will start to speed up if you stick with it, but don't force yourself. not everybody likes homestuck even if they do get past the "boring" parts.
