I liked bottom!Tony initially because it was such a contrast to him in canon. But then.. I think fandom overdid it. Now I'd rather top!Tony more than bottom. But eh, as long as it's well written, I don't mind. I'm just more likely to click on top if I see it.

(Also, is there a distinction between bottom and uke? I'm fairly unfamiliar with slash terminology :/ )

There was one anon in an older conversation about this who insisted that "uke" was a concept much more influenced by Japanese culture, where "bottom" is broader.

Personally, I take "uke" to generally mean "feminine bottom" but "bottom" to mean "receives penetration" or, if we're talking BDSM, "is the one getting hit/tied up/done to/etc."

(I say "generally" because one of my favorite manga is Under Grand Hotel, and I'd call Sen the uke (until he runs into someone even more uke than him, who he tops) even though I don't see him as particularly feminine. I'd say he's more feminine than the seme -- but the seme is very exaggeratedly masculine, so that's not saying much.)

"uke" is a bottom that is basically an overdone feminine stereotype who cries, blushes, is unbelievably needy, needs to be rescued and comforted, and can't do anything by themselves (at least, that's how "uke" has been appropriated in non-yaoi fandom. I don't read any manga myself). Which makes a lot of people cry misogyny and heteronormativity, not to mention OOCness when the characters being pigeonholed into that role aren't at all like that in canon.
