Poorly worded, OP (perhaps "I don't get people who ship him with his students" would have been better) but I ultimately agree and don't really get how 99% of the fandom seems to want to ship him with whichever student they identify most with. I understand that Alan Rickman's hot, but the prevalence is strange. Snape is a douchebag. Why the sexual obsession?

But to each their own, and I seriously don't care if you ship him with Lily, James, Harry, Hermione, Dobby or the Giant Squid.

Personally, I feel the thing that makes Snape so popular amongst shippers/fangirls is the dedication and loyalty he showed in The Prince's Tale. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that level of obsessive love is cool, but the fact that he was capable of it, coupled with the fact that he acted such a douchebag, made him likable to a lot more people. It's kinda like the reason people like bad boys and tsunderes, right? Cold on the outside, with a sikrit loving side just waiting to come out for the right ship/fangirl ...

For some people, Snape's a misunderstood douchebag. I used to think that, even though I still never really shipped him with anyone. For others, it's not about a loving relationship but hot anger sex.
