To an extent, popular writing also tends to be accessible writing, meaning it will appeal to a lower common denominator and is probably not going to be an arrangement of words and themes fit to make the angels weep. But there are different kinds of good and 'entertainingly good' is one of them. Don't sweat it if you're not elevating fanfic to an artform. There's nothing wrong with being an author people consider to be a fun read.

Way to tell the OP they're a shitty writer. Prolific /= shitty. There are some people who take three months to write what takes other people three days. The speed in which the work is done isn't necessarily connected to the quality of the work. Why is it being faster than other people is a good thing almost anywhere but in writing?

Not being high art does not equal shitty and nowhere at all did I mention prolific or speedy. I spoke in terms of popularity only. Stop projecting.

This 100%. Not sure why it matters, so long as you're enjoying yourself. And clearly, a good number of other people like it too. Measure in love, not hate.
