It would be nice and more realistic but considering that would mean an actor would have to sit a couple of hours in a make-up chair every day as well as more work for the make-up artists, I can see why it's not often done. Time and money are huge things when it comes to series.

But, yeah. Like take SPN's Winchesters, for example. Those two should be scarred up from head to toe and, yet, they aren't. Heck, Dean didn't even get to keep the handprint that Castiel gave him. It vanished in season seven.

I think one of the actor's mentioned that the make up department just forgot to put it on one time and they decided to stop doing it

And I am sure Jensen wasn't going to mention it. Three to four hours in a make-up chair? Pass.
