I actually got gleeful at several of the ways the movieverse blatantly defied or changed things from the comics, providing they were good changes, and I'm personally utterly baffled at other comic fans who go "omg you wouldn't like X if you knew how it was in the comics!" because, um, guys? Why the hell would I want a movie that's exactly like the comics? I could just read the comics, where the medium is much more suited to some stories rather than others, and usually the changes serve to make the characters either more likable, less dated, or less confusing.

I think the bulk of the wank about this was surrounding the characterization and interpretation of Captain America, and how oh noes he's not like the comics character.
