Not necessarily. A lot of fiction works from a third-person limited viewpoint. Or third-person omniscient. Either way, it means that how the character feels will be reflected in the narration. You can write in third person but be primarily focused on Jenny's PoV. That means that even if it's not as intimate as first-person, everything does get filter through a jenny-filter, and Jenny is unlikely to think of her friend as "the brunette."
