I mean, nothing you said is wrong, but you forgot to mention the big way to provide support. Go see it in person!

Eh, I don't live in the same country as my favorite musicians. It'd be several thousand dollars to go see them in person. I have contemplated buying tickets anyway, but I thought that'd be such a huge downer and take tickets from someone else that I won't do it.

Yeah, that wouldn't make a lot of sense. There's supporting an artist and there's crazy shit. I wouldn't buy tickets to something I couldn't actually see.

This is actually why I don't worry too much about whether people are buying albums. Artists earn mere pennies off of album sales. If I like a band and want to support them, then I'm going to go to concerts when I'm able and buy their extra merch.*

*(This is also part of why, incidentally, there are bands who give their music away. The sort of exposure that will bring people to shows is more valuable than what they would make off selling a CD)
