I see a couple of different schools of thought have come to this thread. The first is the "People shouldn't spoil things/people who spoil things are jerks/people who expect not to be spoiled are jerks/people who don't keep away from spoilers are idiots" conflict. That's an issue of etiquette and I can't say either side is completely correct. But the issue you first raised is different: "People who care about spoilers and claim spoilers ruin things for them must not be big fans." All I can say is, different people enjoy their fiction differently. For me, your statement is like saying, "I don't see what the big deal is about orgasms; they're not that great." Which would make me say, wow, we have very different orgasms, don't we. Just as even physical sensations may differ from person to person, the engrossment in a story will differ. People who don't mind being spoiled for a story are as bizarre to me as, well, people who say orgasms aren't all that great.
