I believe yo-yo dieting is worse for your health than never dropping the weight at all.

This is so true. My best friend lost 80 pounds and kept it off because she gradually lost the weight in a matter of years. She mainly wanted to for her health. But also because she loves cosplaying athletically toned girls and wanted to be able to kick some ass.

But yeah, fast extreme dieting is very stressful for your body. And if you push it too far, you might go into "starvation mode", which basically means "once you stop dieting and extreme exercising, your body is going to store all that fat you tried to keep off in order to make up for it". That's why a lot of people always gain back the weight they lose.

THIS, so much. The faster you lose weight, the faster you'll gain it back the second you stop whatever "extreme" diet you started. Slow and steady weight loss is key. It takes longer, but it will be worth it because it won't come flooding back the second you decide to eat some oreos.
