(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 02:45 am (UTC)(link)Sure, most of the really popular ficcers in the old fandom have moved on by now, but there's room for new people still. It's not like there's a limited amount of room for new players.
Maybe your canon ended, but why should your wish that it had died entirely with the popular writer's interests be important? Because it comes off not as you feeling like the newer writers aren't any good, but that you want to take something that they love and enjoy and want to try and play with too and take it away from them because you don't want it to be different than when you were there.
People move on, people find new fandoms. That's what your writers did. I don't see how you keeping a fandom with new writers who do love the material, even if their fic aren't as good as the old ones, out.
If every canon did this, I wouldn't have found the first place in fandom where I felt comfortable and happy.
Sometimes considering things from a different point of view isn't necessary. This time is.
