i've always found it to be a pointless line when flung my way. depression keeps me thinking such things to myself, doesn't hurt any to hear them from a stranger lol.

(Not OP, but in the "IAWTS" camp)

It seems strange that many of the places where you see this sort of blatant unthinking overly-hyperbolic and horrible statement are the same ones where triggers are OMGHORRIBLEAAAAAH, you can't use any "ableist" language (although, honestly, I'm still not even sure what that means!). Apparently talking about your inability to eat XYZ is the devil, but telling people who may or may not be suicidal, because how would you know, that they're worthless and should die/the world would be better without them is fine and dandy.
